What t<\/span>o do if you are in a car accident or witness an accident:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.       <\/span>Stop your vehicle if it is clear, safe and legal to do so.<\/p>\n

2.       <\/span>Call 112 for the police and, if necessary ask for emergeny medical services.<\/p>\n

3.       <\/span>Move the vehicle out of the roadway, if it is clear, safe and legal. (If you are not sure, ask the police)<\/p>\n

4.       <\/span>Turn off the ignition of the car involved.<\/p>\n

5.       <\/span>Make a first aid check of all persons involved in the accident.<\/p>\n

6.       <\/span>Mark the  scene of  the accident with flares or reflective triangles.<\/p>\n

7.       <\/span>Gather the names of all persons in the motor vehicles and people who witnessed the accident.<\/p>\n

8.       <\/span>Make a quick diagram and take pictures of where the vehicle occupants were seated and indicate the vehicles\u2019 direction of travel and lane. Also note the date, time and weather conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

9.       <\/span>Ask to see the other driver\u2019s license and write down the number.<\/p>\n

10.   <\/span>Exchange insurance company information. DO NOT discuss \u201efaulty party\u201d or make statements about the accident to anyone except the police.<\/p>\n

11.   <\/span>Get a copy of the police report of the accident from the local precinct.<\/p>\n

12.   <\/span>Contact your insurance company as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Note: Do not stop and assist with an emergency situation unless you are properly licensed and trained to help in emergency situations.
